Content Rules
1. Stories used for podcasts MUST be published on the internet. You MUST provide a link with your submission.
2. You MUST have permission from the author of the story before submitting it to our website, unless the story is of your own creation. You must also be able to prove that you have permission upon request from the staff.
3. Stories/podcast submissions MUST be validated by our team before being published on our website, and anything that breaks the rules will not be accepted. Validation may take up to TEN days, and acceptances and rejections are entirely at the discretion of the staff. Please make sure to read the Terms of Service, Content Rules and Ratings/Warnings posts thoroughly before submitting stories and/or podcasts. Podcasts are validated in the order in which they were received.
4. We have a three strikes rule in place for submissions. If you submit a podcast to our queue and are rejected, you will be asked to adjust something in your content to adhere to our site rules. If you fail to adjust your content, you will be rejected again. If you do this three times on the same podcast (i.e. submit content without making the required changes, three times in a row), action will be taken against your account.
5. We DO accept podcasts that are already posted on another website or archive as long as they adhere to the site rules. You may need to obtain permission from the other website/archive to do this, but we do not accept any responsibility for this. It is your responsibility to check the terms of agreement for any content you post.
6. Credit on our podcasts must be given with the name of the author as seen on their individual story archive, i.e. it must match that of the story you are podcasting.
7. You may not submit works that include content from commercial works, songs, slogans, literature, or other art without obtaining staff and author permission. Whilst we believe using quotes like this falls under the 'insubstantial part' rule in terms of intellectual property law, it is our policy that you must obtain permission from the FFAB staff before using content from other works in your podcasts, and once you have acquired permission, you must properly cite the content's original author. Failure to comply to either of these terms will result in your podcast being rejected. Please note that we obviously DO allow content inspired or based on commercial works, as that is the definition of fanfiction. Direct quotation, however, is a separate issue.
8. We do not allow living people to be used as characters in our podcasts. Therefore, if your story contains a living person, we unfortunately cannot accept it. However, we may discuss living people and current issues in podcasts that are NOT stories or fiction, and in this case we classify these as news and/or criticism, and therefore believe that this use falls under fair use.
9. Stories must NOT have any explicit sexual content including naming genitalia or bodily fluids. Submissions must also not have any sort of sexual noises as sound effects, including moaning or groaning.
10. Similarly, sensitive sexual situations involving power plays, or one character in a position of significant power over the other may not be accepted. This includes student/teacher relationships.
11. Please do not include content in your podcasts that is defamatory to staff or members or other websites and their members. The staff reserves the right to reject submissions if they feel a submission is too sensitive to be published, or if content or comments in the submission could be deemed hurtful or harmful to the site's members.
12. Any podcasts containing personal information will be rejected. FFAB defines personal information as any facts that personally inform the reader of facts they would not otherwise know about you, including but not limited to: full name, address, phone numbers, emails, University, College or School information, etc.
13. You MAY submit podcasts containing music or sound effects. However, these additives must be available for use under the creative commons license, and allow derivative or transformative works. You must provide credit to the creator of these additives if required, as to do otherwise is a breach of copyright law. Failure to comply with this term could result in severe action against your account.
